The Golf Mk2 (Type 19e) is the second generation of one the most successful VWs. Larger in every dimension, the Mk2 Golf was launched in 1983. The GTI arrived as an 8 valve model, with the 16v model following later in 1986. Other variants of Mk2 Golf included 4wd version, such as the Syncro and supercharged Rallye and G60 models. Post 1990 the Mk2 was given larger bumpers in the run up to the introduction of its Mk3 replacement.
